STANDINGS: Today, the Islanders have a record of 13-11-2 for 28 points after 26 games. In their last ten games, the Islanders have gone 3-5-2. They are currently tied for fourth in the Atlantic Division with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Islanders are four points behind the New Jersey Devils for third.

Overall in the Eastern Conference, the Islanders currently sit in a three-way tie in eighth place with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

HUNTING DOWN OPPONENTS: Trent Hunter plays a mean game. The Red Deer, AB native currently ranks fifth in the NHL with 84 hits. Last season, he finished fifth in the NHL and second on the Islanders with 246 hits.

A PRO AT FACEOFFS: Faceoff specialist Mike Sillinger is up to his old tricks again. The 17-year veteran continues to climb the NHL faceoff charts. Sillinger leads the Islanders and now ranks eighth in the NHL with a 56.1 faceoff winning percentage. He has ranked in the top-15 among the top NHL faceoff leaders in the past six seasons.

I'LL TAKE IT: The Islanders are using Sillinger’s faceoff prowess to good use. Sillinger ranks sixth in the NHL by taking 34.6 percent of the Islanders’ faceoffs. Last season, Sillinger ranked fourth in the NHL with a 58.8 faceoff winning percentage.

JO'S BIG SHOT:  Josef Vasicek leads the Islanders' scoring attack with nine goals. Jo's netted those goals by only taking 36 shots. That gives the first-year Islander a 25.0 shooting percentage, which is good for second best in the NHL.

GETTING IN THE WAY: Brendan Witt leads the team and is sixth in the NHL in blocked shots with 68. Last night in Atlanta, Witt blocked a game-high five shots. Last season, he finished fifth the league with a total of 207.
