The events offered the most loyal Islander fans, who were not part of the pre-sale, access to tickets prior to the online public sale that began at 1 p.m. The store events combined with the pre-sale events gave a three day total of nearly 25 percent of last year's total individual tickets sold.
Fans had the chance to meet the Islanders' official mascot, Sparky and had the opportunity to purchase a variety of Islander merchandise.
In addition to meeting Sparky, fans also had the chance to meet Islander players Josh Bailey, Joel Rechlicz and Justin DiBenedetto. Bailey was at the Sunrise Mall Team Store in Massapequa signing autographs and encouraging fans to purchase their tickets for the upcoming season, while Rechlicz and DiBenedetto were stationed at the Team Store located inside the Broadway Mall in Hicksville. The Islanders are the first National Hockey League team to make single game tickets, available for the entire season.
The Islanders will open the season on Saturday, October 3 at home against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins, where fans will also have the chance to see number one overall Draft Pick John Tavares make his NHL debut..
Other key dates include: three home games against the New York Rangers, which will take place on October 28th, December 17th and March 30th. The Islanders will also host the New Jersey Devils on January 18th, January 23rd and March 13th. The league’s MVP, Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals will visit the Nassau Coliseum on October 24th and January 26th.
Ticket plans are up 41 percent as compared to this time last year. Partial plans are up 164 percent with the flex ticket plans serving as the public most popular.
