ISLANDERS ADD FIVE PLAYERS ON TRYOUT
The New York Islanders announced today that Dean McAmmond, Manny Legace, Anders Eriksson, Krys Kolanos and Joel Martin have all accepted invitations to Training Camp on Professional Tryouts (PTO).

McAmmond, a 16-year veteran of the National Hockey League, returns to the Islanders after playing the 2009-10 season with the New Jersey Devils.  The native of Grande Cache, AB scored 17 points (8 goals and 9 assists) last year with the Devils.  The year prior, in a deal involving the Ottawa Senators, McAmmond was acquired by the Islanders along a first round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, in exchange for Mike Comrie and Chris Campoli.  In 18 games with the Islanders, McAmmond tallied two goals and seven assists for nine points.  A first round selection (22nd overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, McAmmond has played stints for the Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, Senators, Islanders and Devils.  Over the course, McAmmond has totaled 448 points (186 goals and 262 assists) in 996 career NHL games.

Legace played last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, posting a .907 save percentage, a 2.81 goals against average and an overall record of 10-7-5.  He was selected by the Hartford Whalers in the eighth round (188th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, but never played in a game for the Whalers.  Legace, a native of Toronto, ON, saw his first taste of NHL action in the 1998-99 season with the Los Angeles Kings.  The following six years, Legace played for the Detroit Red Wings, winning a Stanley Cup in 2002.  He had his most successful season in 2005-06, when he finished with a 37-8-3 record.

Eriksson, a member of Detroit’s 1998 Stanley Cup Champion winning team, split last season between the Phoenix Coyotes and the New York Rangers.  Over his 12-year NHL career, Eriksson has accumulated 176 points (22 goals and 154 points), playing for the Red Wings, Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Columbus Blue Jackets, Calgary Flames, Coyotes and Rangers.

Kolanos, originally a selection of Phoenix in the first round (19th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, has played in a total of 136 NHL games, tallying 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points.  The Calgary, AB native has played for the Coyotes, Oilers and Minnesota Wild during his eight-year professional career.

Martin, a member of the Islanders Central Hockey League affiliate, the Odessa Jackalopes, finished the 2009-10 season with a 27-6-2 record.  The Fort Worth, TX native has played four games in the American Hockey League.
