Islanders Scout Mario Saraceno
On Zack Phillips - Phillips is a cerebral and creative centerman. He played with (Jonathan) Huberdeau (ranks third overall on Central Scouting) in St. John and had an excellent season. He handles the puck very well and has an excellent and precise wrist shot. He’s not physical or aggressive, but gets involved and battles for puck possession. He needs to improve overall skating and speed for next level.

Saint John head coach Gerard Gallant
On Zack Phillips - Zack has great vision and is strong on the puck. He's a solid center and has come a long way in a short time. He kind of reminds me of an Adam Oates-type of player … he's strong on the puck down low and in the corners and has nifty hands.

Islanders Scout Vellu Kautonen
On Karl Johansson - Johansson is small, but is a very skilled defenseman. He’s mobile and has good hands. He’s capable of running the power play.

Saint John Sea Dogs

The Saint John Sea Dogs entered the QMJHL as an expansion team in 2005. Quickly, they have become a powerhouse, winning the 2011 Memorial Cup, the highest junior hockey honor.

Zack Phillips was part of that 2010-11 Sea Dogs team. If he is selected by the Islanders in this year's draft, Phillips will be the first Sea Dogs skater to enter the Islanders system.
