With the fifth overall draft pick, the Islanders selected Ryan Strome, one of the top prospects in this year's entry Draft. Strome will suit up for the first time in a New York Islanders jersey as he takes the ice for the Mini Camp scrimmage and skills competition.

Calvin de Haan, who was drafted in the first round, 12th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, played in 55 games during the 2009-10 season for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. A captain this past season, he tallied 6 goals and 42 assist for 48 points, leading all Generals defenseman in scoring. His regular season assists tied him second on the team, despite playing in 10 fewer games than most of his teammates. In 10 playoff games, he tallied one goal and 11 assists for 12 points, leading the team in assists and again, tying for second in points.

de Haan also helped Canada win the Silver Medal at the World Junior Championships in Buffalo, NY, notching five assists and a +2 rating in six games. His World Junior Championships teammate, Casey Cizikas, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. In six WJC games, he earned 2 goals and 1 assist.

Cizikas also completed his fourth season of major junior hockey with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors of the OHL, where he established career highs in goals (29), points (64) and plus-minus rating (+43). He led the team with 11 power-play goals, finished second with three short-handed goals and ranked third in goals, assists (29) and points. The centerman added a career-high 19 points (5g/14a) with a +11 rating in 16 OHL playoff games, as Mississauga fell in Game Seven of the OHL Finals. He led Mississauga in postseason assists and tied for second in points.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, David Ullstrom left his native Sweden to play his first North American season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, where he would continue his hockey development. As an AHL rookie, the winger notched 17 goals, 24 assists and 41 points, finishing fourth on the team in points and goals and ranking fifth on the team in assists.

This year's Blue and White scrimmage will also showcase additional up-and-coming stars including the Islanders fifth overall draft selection in 2010, Nino Niederreiter, and two players who cracked the Islanders lineup last season, forward Matt Martin and defenseman Travis Hamonic.

Held during the week of Mini Camp, the scrimmage is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Immediately following the Blue and White scrimmage, fans will see the team¹s future stars compete in a skills competition which will includes the hardest shot, accuracy and fastest skater events.

Coliseum doors will open at 6 p.m. with warm-ups beginning at 6:30 p.m. The scrimmage will start at 7 p.m., followed by the skills competition. See which of the organization¹s up-and-coming prospects has the hardest shot or has the best shootout move.
