TRANSACTIONS: Selected by the Islanders in the first round (5th overall) of the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

LAST SEASON: Started the season with the Islanders and played in nine games before returning to the Portland Winterhawks (Western Hockey League)…Made his NHL debut in the Islanders season opener on Oct. 9 vs. Dallas, becoming the youngest player in Islanders history (18 years, 31 days)…Scored his first career point/goal on Oct. 13 at Washington (M. Neuvirth), becoming the youngest Islander in history and the fourth youngest player of the expansion era to score an NHL goal at 18 years, 35 days old [Grant Mulvey (18 years, 32 days), Jordan Staal (18 years, 32 days) and Patrick Marleau (18 years, 34 days)]…Recorded his first career assist on Oct. 21 at Tampa Bay…Assigned to Portland on Oct. 28…Established career highs in goals (41), assists (29) and points (70) in his second WHL season with Portland…Led the team in goals and power-play goals (12), while finishing second in points and third in plus-minus rating (+28)…Had 20 multi-point games, including three four-point efforts and two hat tricks…Added 27 points (9g/18a) with a +5 rating in 21 playoff games, as the Winterhawks reached the WHL finals…Led the team in postseason assists and tied for second in points…Tied for second in the WHL in playoff points…Had eight multi-point games in the playoffs…Scored points in Portland’s first nine playoff games (7g/11a).

CAREER: 2009-10: Posted 60 points, including a team-leading 36 goals in his first North American campaign with Portland...His goal total was second among all WHL rookies and his six game-winning goals tied for the league lead among rookies...Selected to the WHL Western Conference Second All-Star Team...Led Portland in the WHL Playoffs with eight goals and finished second with 16 points in 13 games...Played for Team Orr at the 2010 Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game, scoring the first goal of the game. Drafted second overall by Portland at the 2009 CHL Import Draft.

2008-09: Played for HC Davos in Switzerland, seeing time with Davos' Under-18 and Under-20 clubs. With the Under-18 team, scored six goals and added six assists for 12 points in 6 games...Promoted to the Under-20 Elite Jr. A club, where he scored 20 goals and added 14 assists for 34 points in 30 games...Played in three playoff games for the top HC Davos club, picking up one assist.

INTERNATIONAL: 2010: Played four games for Switzerland at the 2010 World Championships in Germany...Also represented Switzerland at the 2010 World Junior Championships, leading the team with 10 points (6g/4a) in seven games and earning a spot on the tournament all-star team.

2009: Scored a point per game for the Swiss at the U-18 World Junior Championships, netting three goals and chipping in three assists in six games.
