TRANSACTIONS: Selected by the Islanders in the second round (40th overall) of the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

LAST SEASON: Scored 14 points (2g/12a) in 35 games during his junior season with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers (Western Collegiate Hockey Association)…Finished third amongst defensemen in points and second in assists…Both of his goals were game-winners…Combined for season highs in assists (3) and plus-minus rating (+5) on Oct. 29-30 against Colorado College…Signed an Amateur Tryout with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (American Hockey League) and made his professional debut on Mar. 18 vs. Charlotte…Scored his first professional goal/point on Mar. 26 at Connecticut…Recorded his first professional assist on Apr. 1 at Springfield…Finished the season with one goal and three assists in 13 games.

CAREER: 2009-10: Played in all 39 games as a sophomore at the University of Minnesota...Ranked second among defensemen with 12 points (2g/10a)...Notched goals in wins over the University of Alaska Anchorage (Oct. 30) and Colorado College (Feb. 20).

2008-09: Was one of four players, and the only freshman, to play in every game for the University of Minnesota...Ranked second among team defensemen with 17 points (2g/15a)...Earned tournament MVP honors and the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week award after posting a goal and an assist in the 3-2 title game victory over Northeastern at the Dodge Holiday Classic (Jan. 3)...Collected a season-best three assists in a win at St. Cloud State University on Jan. 17 and had an assist in the opening game of the series on Jan. 16 to earn the WCHA Rookie of the Week award.

2007-08: Helped lead Roseau High School in Minnesota to a 25-0 regular season record...Scored 72 points (28g/44a) in 31 games...Ranked first in Minnesota for points by a defenseman...Won the “Mr. Hockey” Award as the top high school player in Minnesota, becoming the first player from Roseau to do so.

INTERNATIONAL: 2008: Helped lead the U.S. to a bronze medal at the Under-18 World Junior Championships...Finished with six assists in seven games...Ranked second on U.S. team in assists.

2007: Scored five points (1g/4a) in four games with Team USA at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
