Islanders Acquire Rolston from New Jersey
The New York Islanders have acquired forward Brian Rolston from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Trent Hunter.

Rolston, a four-time 30-goal scorer, spent the last three seasons with the Devils.  Last year, the Flint, MI native scored 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points in 65 games.

Originally selected by New Jersey in the first round (11th overall) of the 1991 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Rolston won the Stanley Cup during his rookie season with the Devils in 1994-95. He went on to play the first six seasons of his NHL career with the Devils, before he was dealt to the Colorado Avalanche at the beginning of the 1999-2000 campaign.  Over the course of his nine total seasons with New Jersey, Rolston totaled 281 points (130 goals and 151 assists) in 557 games.

With the Avalanche, Rolston scored 18 points (eight goals and 10 assists) in 50 games.  He would finish the season with the Boston Bruins, playing in 16 games and scoring five goals and four assists.  The 6’2, 215 pound left wing would play the next four seasons with Boston, totaling 96 goals and 131 assists for 227 points in 322 games. He reached the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his career in 2001-02 during his second full season with Boston.

Rolston would sign with the Minnesota Wild in 2005.  He played the next three seasons in Minnesota, registering over 30 goals in each.  He had a career year in points during the 2005-06 season, registering 79 points (34 goals and 45 assists) while playing in all 82 games of the regular season. The following year, Rolston was selected to the Western Conference All-Star Team.

On the international stage, Rolston has represented the United States at three World Junior Championships (1991, 1992, 1993), one World Championship (1996) and two World Cups (1996, 2004), winning the World Cup of Hockey in 1996.  Rolston has also played for Team USA at three Winter Olympics Games (1994, 2002 and 2006), winning a silver medal in 2002.
