So you think you can be the Islanders Idol?
The team is looking for experienced vocalists who are available to sing the National Anthem at select home games during the 2011-12 season. If you have that “X-Factor” or “The Voice,” we want you.
The position is about more than your voice, though. Singers need enthusiasm and have to show strong Islanders support. Upon arrival, performers should be prepared to execute a 30-second a cappella verse of the Star Spangled Banner in front of a panel of judges.
The open auditions will be held at Nassau Coliseum on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 5-7 p.m.
Interested applicants must fill out the form below and include all contact information as well as previous anthem experience. Applicants must also include an audio sample with a headshot or a video that showcases their vocal ability.
Online submissions will close on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at noon, so be sure to submit your application immediately. Singers will be notified of their scheduled sing-time on Friday, Sept. 16 and should arrive to the audition 15 minutes prior by entering through the Coliseum Box Office. No walk-up contestants will be permitted to try out on the day of auditions.
And remember, “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.”
