Notes and quotes from the rink
Today, Travis Hamonic skated with the team for the first time in almost three weeks after a few days of working out by himself with coaches. Here are a few highlights from what he told
Travis Hamonic, sporting a full cage, waits his turn in practice with teammate Kyle Okposo.

“I felt great. I’ve been skating all week. I had an opportunity to get my conditioning level up to where it needs to be. Most importantly, it’s nice to be around the team. I enjoy being around this group, so that’s probably the best thing about it.”

“I have no discomfort. Imagine the worst kind of cold that you have or a sinus infection times 10. From where I was a couple of weeks ago with my nose packed and all those tubes, I’ve got no complaints right now. “

Regarding the cage he is wearing: “I’m confident in wearing it. For my own safety and protection it’s good that I am wearing it. I’m just excited to be back around the group and the guys and to contribute down the stretch.”

On whether or not he can play tomorrow. With a laugh, Hamonic said: “That’s a decision that will be up to Cappy and the coaching staff. I had a great week of practice. I had to show them that my conditioning level is there. I tried to show that my timing is there. I’m ready to step in whenever called upon.”

Mark Streit addresses reporters on Thursday at practice.
Captain Mark Streit was very clear in what needs to be done to make the playoffs: "At this point in the season, they are all must win games."

Forward PA Parenteau echoed his comments and added on being ready for tomorrow: “We know what’s at stake here.  We know it’s a big rivalry and we know that the crowd is gonna be going. Guys are excited for this game, we talked about it this morning. There will be a full house. You can’t ask for a better scenario.”

Capuano, who is feeling much better from his bout with the flu that caused him to not coach in Buffalo on Tuesday, on physicality for Friday’s game against the Rangers: “Every guy is different on your team. Every guy has a little bit of a different role and responsibility, but again, even your skill players have to play with that heart and soul, sacrifice and determination, and finish checks. We have to create some more offense and get our D more involved in the play for sure.”
