Sundstrom Agrees To Terms On ELC
Islanders’ second round pick in 2011 inks three-year contract
The New York Islanders announced today that forward Johan Sundstrom has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract.
Sundstrom, 19, scored 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 49 games during his second season with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League. A native of Gothenburg, SWE, Sundstrom also represented his country at the 2012 World Junior Championships, recording five points (one goal, four assists) with a plus-5 rating in six games to help Sweden capture a gold medal.
The Islanders selected Sundstrom in the second round, 50th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft. In 2010-11, the 6’2, 196-pound forward scored a goal in 41 games as a rookie with Frolunda. He added 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 15 regular-season games with Frolunda’s junior club and 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in seven junior playoff games en route to a Junior European Trophy Championship.
