Teuvo Teravainen was the first round (23rd overall) selection of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the 2011 KHL Draft. However, the Helsinki, Finland native stayed with Jokerit of the Sm-Liiga, Finland’s top professional league. Despite being only 17 years old, Teravainen still proved his worth by scoring 11 goals and seven assists in 40 games, having by far the most impact of any of the teenagers on the team by season’s end. At only 161 pounds, Teravainen doesn’t have the size to impose fear on opponents, but many scouts believe he has more than enough skill to make up for it.

In his first season in North America, Radek Faksa ranked third on the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers with 67 points (29 goals, 38 assists) in 62 games. The Opava, Czech Republic native has a great combination of size and skill, and was the youngest member of the Czech squad at the 2012 World Junior Championships. Projected as a power forward in the NHL, Faksa is expected to build on his already big 6’3”, 203-pound frame. Kitchener Head Coach Steve Spott believes that Faksa can be another Gabriel Landeskog, a player who was a star with the Rangers and is now a solid contributor for the Colorado Avalanche. |

Trent Klatt, Islanders Player Development
Teuvo Teravainen is one of the more skilled players in the draft. He has a very good ability to play give-and-go hockey.
Goran Stubb, NHL Director of European Scouting
Teuvo has greatly improved over the course of the season. He started with the juniors and then was a regular with a strong Jokerit team in the Finnish league after the Christmas break. He's a player with outstanding hockey sense and great overall skill level. He's 17 years old, but running the power play. He's a finesse type of player, not overly physical, but is not intimidated in a physical game. He can score and pass, is a good skater with fine acceleration, soft hands, and he knows his defensive duties.

Ryan Strome, Islanders first round pick in 2011
Radek Faksa had a really good year. He played against us twice, and had two very good games. He’s a guy that’s obviously put up pretty good numbers, and contributed on a Kitchener team that had a good year.
Trent Klatt, Islanders Player Development
Radek Faksa is a powerful power forward. He is certainly not afraid to play in the trenches and will score goals near the front of the net.
