Griffin Reinhart helped the Edmonton Oil Kings win the Western Hockey League championship last season, ranking third on the squad with 36 points (12 goals, 24 assists) in 58 games. At 6’4”, 207-pounds, Reinhart has some natural physical ability, but many scouts think he needs to use his size more to his advantage. The Vancouver, BC native shows good vision on the ice, makes a good first pass and despite his size, is a very smooth skater. That, paired with his strong hockey IQ, makes Reinhart a likely top-10 draft pick.

Sarnia Sting forward Alex Galchenyuk is a bit of a wild card coming into the 2012 NHL Draft. Despite suffering a knee injury before the start of last season which caused him to miss all but two games, the Milwaukee, WI native has enough talent to warrant top-5 consideration. The Sting selected Galchenyuk first overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection Draft and in 2010-11, his only full season of junior competition, Galchenyuk tallied 31 goals and 52 assists in 68 games. The son of a former hockey player, Galchenyuk spent parts of his childhood in the U.S., Russia, Germany and Italy, and many of his strengths come from his unique experience competing in both North America and Europe. |

Reinhart is a big body who sees the ice well. He’s a good passer, has good offensive instincts and is pretty good in his own zone – almost the complete package.

I have a lot of buddies who played in Sarnia, and a lot of people think that Galchenyuk could be better than (Nail) Yakupov. He’s real shifty and creative, and some people say a little bit more of a playmaker, but I think he’s also a scorer and maybe more of a finesse guy.

Alex Galchenyuk is a big, skilled offensive player. He missed a huge portion of the year due to an injury and certainly didn’t disappoint on his return.
