Boyes Agrees To Terms

The New York Islanders announced today that Brad Boyes has agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
Boyes, 30, scored 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 65 games last season with the Buffalo Sabres. In 558 career NHL games with the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues and Buffalo, the Mississauga, ON, native has scored 158 goals and 214 assists for 372 points. He’s also appeared in 11 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, totaling four points (three goals, one assist).
“We’re extremely excited to add a player of Brad’s caliber to our team,” Islanders General Manager Garth Snow said. “He’s a gifted offensive player who will add a scoring touch to our lineup.”
Boyes was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie team in the 2005-06 season after netting 69 points (26 goals, 43 assists) in his first year with Boston. He scored a career-high 43 goals with St. Louis in 2007-08, and reached a career-best 72 points (33 goals, 39 assists) the following season with the Blues. He’s played in all 82 games on five occasions, including in 2010-11, when he led the league with 83 games played after a mid-season trade from St. Louis to Buffalo.
The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Boyes in the first round, 24th overall, of the 2000 NHL Draft. The 6’0, 204-pound forward made his professional debut with the St. John’s Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League in 2002-03, after completing a four-year junior career with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. In 238 career AHL games, Boyes totaled 94 goals and 117 assists for 211 points.
