Kyle Okposo Reviews The Dark Knight Rises

The Islanders resident movie buff, Kyle Okposo, had a chance to see the hottest movie of the summer before it hit theaters nationwide July 20. Invited to an exclusive screening in New York City hosted by IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond, Okposo volunteered to write this special movie review for NewYorkIslanders.com.

I want to start off by offering my condolences and most heart-felt sympathy to everyone affected by the terrible tragedy in Aurora, CO. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Christopher Nolan's final installment in the Dark Knight chapter left me a bit perplexed. That being said, the performances and video effects were dazzling. Anne Hathaway in particular gave a performance worthy of awards and remembrance. The way the scenes and the movie in general were shot really is a testament to Nolan's skills as a director.

The opening segment left me wondering why he was trying to duplicate that of The Dark Knight. "One of a kind," is what comes to mind when one thinks of Heath Ledger's introduction into the second film, and Nolan, in my opinion, should have left it as such. The plot was intriguing, but with so many things going on, it was at times difficult to focus on all aspects of it.

The ending was so well thought out by Nolan and really is becoming a trademark of his film-making. Tying things together in a way that few people would have the vision to see is something that he does as well or better than any director out there today. The Dark Knight Rises may have its flaws, but the skill in the acting as well as Nolan's ingenious directing abilities makes this film the summer’s must-see movie.

Okposo and the Islanders would like to extend special thanks to Warner Bros., IMAX, Rich Gelfond and Parish PR.
