NHL Unveils National Television Schedule
Islanders to play five times on the national stage in Canada and once in the U.S.
The National Hockey League announced today the television schedules for national partners NBC, NBC Sports Network, CBC, TSN, TSN2, RDS and NHL Network-U.S. for the 2012-13 regular season.
The New York Islanders are slated to play five times on a national stage in Canada and once in the United States.
NBC Sports Network and TSN2 will broadcast the Islanders’ Oct. 22 matchup at 7:30 p.m. against the Florida Panthers to their respective national audiences in the U.S. and Canada.
The Islanders four games against the Montreal Canadiens will air throughout Canada. Their matchups on Feb. 2, Mar. 2 and Mar. 23 will air on CBC and RDS, while the Islanders-Canadiens game on Feb. 12 will only appear on RDS.
The Islanders 2012-13 home opener is Saturday, Oct. 13 when John Tavares and the Islanders take on the Philadelphia Flyers at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Islanders will host their first meeting of the season with the New York Rangers. The Islanders will also host their cross-town rivals in the second half of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Thursday, Mar. 7. The Eastern Conference Champion New Jersey Devils will play three total games at Nassau Coliseum this season, with two taking place in the first half on Saturday, Nov. 17 and Wednesday, Dec. 26.
Sidney Crosby and the Penguins will make their way to Nassau Coliseum during the first half of the season on Saturday, Dec. 22 and a matinee start (1 p.m.) Saturday, Dec. 29. In addition to taking on Philadelphia on Opening Night, the Islanders will host Claude Giroux and the Flyers on Thursday, Nov. 29 and a matinee faceoff (1 p.m.) on Saturday, Dec. 8.
