Strome and Theoret’s outbursts lead Niagara to perfect week
The Niagara IceDogs (Ontario Hockey League) won all three of their games last week, due in large part to forward Ryan Strome’s 12 points (three goals, nine assists). The Mississauga, ON native scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Niagara’s 2-0 win against the Kitchener Rangers on Thursday, Nov. 1. But over the weekend he picked up the pace, recording back-to-back five-point efforts. On Nov. 3, he lit the lamp once and picked up four assists in the IceDogs’ 9-4 victory over the Guelph Storm. The next day at the Peterborough Petes, Strome scored the game-winner and earned four primary helpers in a 6-4 win. The Islanders’ first round (fifth overall) pick in the 2011 NHL Draft leads the OHL in both assists (21) and points (33), and co-leads the league in plus-minus (+22).

During the Nov. 3 contest, fellow Islanders prospect and Niagara teammate Mitchell Theoret also earned five points. He scored the game-winning tally as well as a third period insurance marker, and also earned three primary assists in the win. The Islanders seventh round (185th overall) pick in the 2011 NHL Draft also picked up an assist on Nov. 1 and two helpers on Nov. 4, and ranks fourth on the team with 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 15 games.

Kichton’s three-game goal streak lifts Chiefs
Defenseman Brenden Kichton of the Spokane Chiefs (Western Hockey League) scored a goal in each game as the Chiefs went 2-1-0 last week. He lit the lamp in Spokane’s 8-2 blowout win over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Oct. 30, scored the lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the Red Deer Rebels on Nov. 2 and netted one on the power play in a 5-0 win Nov. 3 against the Everett Silvertips (also earning an assist in the game). Kichton recorded a plus-4 rating in the three games and leads team blueliners in goals (7), assists (13) and points (20).

Lee continues hot start
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Central Collegiate Hockey Association) center Anders Lee posted back-to-back multiple-point games last week, and now has nine points (five goals, four assists) in eight games. On Nov. 2 vs. Western Michigan, Lee scored once and assisted on fellow Islanders prospect Robbie Russo’s goal, but the Irish fell 3-2 to the Broncos. In the Nov. 4 rematch, the Notre Dame captain lit the lamp twice in a 4-0 win. Lee’s nine points lead the team and are tied for fifth in the conference.
