Veteran forward has finished top-10 in AHL scoring each of past four seasons

Islanders Claim Aucoin Off Waivers

The New York Islanders announced today that Keith Aucoin has been claimed off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Aucoin, 34, has appeared in 102 career National Hockey League games, split between the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals. The Waltham, MA, native has NHL career of totals 11 goals and 26 assists (37 points) with a plus-7 rating. This season with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, Aucoin has 37 points (10 goals, 27 assists) with a plus-7 rating through 34 games.

Aucoin has played 707 career AHL games with the Lowell Lock Monsters, Providence Bruins, Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, Albany River Rats, Hershey Bears and Toronto Marlies. The 5’8, 171-pound forward has a career total of 233 goals and 581 assists (814 points) with a plus-83 rating. Aucoin’s AHL resume also includes six All-Star Game, tying the league record, three selections to the AHL First All-Star Team and three selections to the AHL Second All-Star Team (2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11). He won back-to-back Calder Cup Championships with the Hershey Bears in 2008-09 and 2009-10. Aucoin was also named the AHL’s Most Valuable Player in 2009-10.

Aucoin played four years of college hockey at Norwich University from 1997-2001. He was named the NCAA Division III ECAC Player of the Year in 1999-00 and 2000-01, the same years he was selected to the NCAA Division III ECAC 1st All-Conference Team. Undrafted, Aucoin began his professional career in 2001-02 with the B.C. Icemen of the United Hockey League.
