1:29: After a turnover in the neutral zone, J.T. Miler scores to make it 1-0 Rangers. Nabokov got a piece of the shot from the left circle. Caught the defense going the wrong way as he entered the zone. Chris Kreider and Marc Staal get the assists. First NHL goal for Miller.

9:24: Still 1-0 Rangers. Sthots: NYI 3 NYR 6
10:59: It's 2013, and the fans at the Garden still don't like Denis Potvin.
14:04: A prolonged attack leads to the Rangers' second goal. Shot from the point byStaal was blocked in front by Brian Strait. The rebound came out to the slot, where Marian Gaborik had time to pick his shot because of the tired D. Nabokov was screened by traffic in front.
15:49: Rick Nash heads to the box for holding. This would be a great time for the Islanders to snap out of their recent power play woes. Shots: NYI 6 NYR 9
19:28: Staal and Martin looked briefly entertained the idea of a fight, but they were quickly separated.
End 1st: NYR 2 NYI 0. Shots: NYI 8 NYR 10
3:50: Too many men on the ice called on the Rangers. J.T. Miller goes to serve it. Islanders are 0-for-1 on the job tonight.
10:15: David Ullstrom just received a nice feed in the right circle, ripped one on goal, and...glove save Lundqvist. Still 2-0 NYR. Shots: NYI 10 NYR 14. Ullstrom shaking his head going back to the bench.
11:13: John Tavares re-introduces himself to the Rangers with a laser-beam to the back of the net for his fifth of the season, cutting the score to 2-1. Islanders had a 3-on-2 with Tavares carrying the puck up the wing. Rangers D backed off on Tavares.
In 18 career games against the blueshirts, Tavares has 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists).
16:08: Still 2-1 Rangers. Shots: NYI 13 NYR 16.
16:36: Rangers will see some more time on the power play. Matt Moulson gets tagged for interference. Isles PK is 1-for-1.
17:59: Michael Grabner, on a shorthanded breakaway, stymied by Lundqvist. Rick Nash, backchecking, gets acquainted with the net and knocks it off its moorings.

19:37: McDonagh gets 2 for roughing just before the end of the period.

0:00: Isles starting with 1:37 left on the PP.
4:09: Islanders are going to get another chance as Darroll Powe is escorted to the box for holding. Islanders are 0-for-3 on the PP.
8:23: Not that this was lost on me earlier, but Islanders Ice Girls > Rangers Ice...Crew?
10:19: Still 3-1 home team. Shots: NYI 23 NYR 20.
11:28: Ok, we've got another Islanders man advantage. McDonagh goes to the sin bin for interference.
13:28: Nothing getting through on the PP tonight. My count is 0-for-5.
16:50: Shots: NYI 26 NYR 23. Both goalies have made a few dandies.
