Morning Skate Updates 2\/14\/13
Morning skate running updates for Islanders-Rangers 2\/14\/13
The Islanders will have morning skate at Madison Square Garden starting at 11:00 a.m. in preparation for their game tonight against the New York Rangers. Check this space for the latest updates throughout the skate.

10:45: Optional skate this morning for the Islanders. Rangers practice at their facility, so just the visiting team here this morning.

10:50: David Ullstrom and Eric Boulton are the first ones on the ice.

11:04: Just spoke with Jack Capuano. Joe Finley is in tonight in favor of Thomas Hickey. David Ullstrom and Marty Reasoner are scratched. Eric Boulton will play tonight. More from Capuano in a bit.

11:12: Capuano, on the 5-on-5 play: "From a defensive standpoint, the last couple days have been good. With where we're at, it's not about structure, it's about defending. We're right there, but we're not strong enough in front of our net. We have to be stronger. We have to defend with our sticks and make sure we box guys out."

11:16: More from Capuano: "We're getting chances. Guys are working hard. When we sit there for two and a half hours and re-watch it as a coaching staff, the chances are there, we're just not putting the puck in the net. You've got to create the good bounces sometimes, and work a little bit harder."

11:32: Michael Grabner talking with MSG and IslandersTV:

11:36: Joe Finley, on tonight's opponent: "They've got some big, physical guys up front who like to dictate the play and like to play behind the defensemen down low. They thrive off transition as well. We just have to continue to be in good defensive position and advancing the puck to our forwards so they can do their job."

11:39: Finley, on if he is expecting a more physical matchup tonight: "I don't know what their personnel is going to be tonight. I can't worry about anything besides just playing my game. It's up to each one of us to execute the game plan and we'll be ok if we do that."

11:42: Grabner, on Monday's loss to Carolina: "It was tough. We got the special teams going and there were a couple of tough bounces against us. I think we played some good hockey the past couple games. I think we're going to win more than we lose if we keep playing like that."

11:45: Grabner, on if playing the rival New York Rangers tonight will provide any extra spark: "It doesn't matter if it's Boston, the Rangers, or whoever, it's about us getting points and it's been a tough road the last few games. We're trying to break that cycle."

Check NewYorkIslanders.com for live updates throughout tonight's Islanders-Rangers game. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
