Live Updates - Islanders vs. Devils

7:00 p.m. - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NY

Pre-Game
A couple of changes with the lineup - David Ullstrom is back in, and the d-pairs are switched up a bit.

Kelly Tesar nails the Star Spangled Banner and we're off.

1st Period
1:06: Johan Hedberg shows why he has a 0.65 GAA with highway robbery on Brad Boyes shot from the left side.

5:37: Matt Martin heads to the box for holding. First power play of the day for either team.

10:45: Still scoreless. Shots: NYI 7 NJD 6

13:12: Moulson got creative with a shot through a defenseman's legs in transition but Hedberg had no problem with it. Still 0-0. Shots are 8-8.

16:45: Great move by Ullstrom on a breakaway and he gets tripped and awarded a penalty shot.

16:45: Unbelievable. Ullstrom beats Hedberg, but not the crossbar. Lots of fans feeling deja vu in the Coliseum.

18:32: Isles are going to have to be good to score on Hedberg tonight. He's allowed a couple of rebounds, but he's also recovered to keep the puck out. Another big save on Moulson there.

End 1st: NYI 0 NJD 0. Shots: NYI 9 NJD 15

2nd Period
4:13: Islanders going on the power play for the first time tonight as Henrik Tallinder gets called for boarding.

4:36: That was short lived. Brad Boyes off for goaltender interference and we're 4-on-4 for a bit.

6:03: Bailey with a deke around a defenseman for a partial breakaway chance on Hedberg. Another nice save 4-on-4. Shots: NYI 15 NJD 18.

15:00: How this game is still scoreless is beyond me. Devils' top line just had a chance, but Nabokov made a save and the rebound attempt went wide. Shots: NYI 18 NJD 20

16:46: How's this for timing. John Tavares makes it nine goals in 10 games on a rebound opportunity. Islanders lead 1-0. Brad Boyes' shot from the right side was stopped, but Tavares swooped in. No surprise that #91 was in the right place at the right time. Tavares has goals in five straight games.

18:09: Just 83 seconds later, Tavares makes it 2-0 on the power play. 10 goals in 10 games. Matt Moulson's initial attempt was stopped, but Tavares cut to the slot and swatted it home on the forehand. Visnovsky gets the secondary assist. Moulson has two helpers.

19:06: Moulson just made it 3-0 Islanders. Took a feed in front in the slot with space and put it upstairs. Just as a power play was getting under way too. Assists from Boyes and Tavares.

End 2nd: NYI 3 NJD 0. Shots: NYI 23 NJD 20. When these two teams met on Feb. 3, New Jersey scored three goals in 3:32 following a long scoreless drought. Islanders just tallied three in 2:20.

3rd Period
4:02: Nabby with a big save on a Steve Bernier breakaway. Keeps it 3-0.

7:27: Streit going to the box for a hook. Isles PK is 2-for-2.

8:47: Devils get one back on a blast from the right point by Marek Zidlicky on the PP. Puck definitely took paint off the goal post on its way in. Isles lead 3-1.

14:21: Alexei Ponikarovsky goes to the box for interference. Islanders were already on a power play, so now they have a 5-on-3 for 25 seconds. Isles take a timeout with a chance to blow this one open.

14:45: If you brought a hat tonight, you're not leaving with it. Tavares with his third of the night for the hat trick. Nice. 4-1 Isles.

14:50: Moulson got an assist on that Tavares goal. This is the quietest four-point night he'll ever put together. Power play is clicking today at 3-for-5.
