Live Updates - Islanders at Sabres
7:00 p.m. - First Niagara Center - Buffalo, NY
Pre-GameKevin Poulin in the building. He's the first call-up from AHL Bridgeport this season. Evgeni Nabokov will get the nod in goal tonight. Other than that, same lineup as the other night.
1st Period
5:27: Mark Streit takes the game's first penalty for interference. Sabres go to the power play.
7:27: Islanders 1-for-1 on the PK. Lots of zone time for Buffalo, but most of the shots were blocked or went wide.
10:50: Sabres going to the power play again as Colin McDonald gets whistled for interference.
12:50: Sabres unable to score again on the man advantage. Not a ton of great opportunities.
End 1st: NYI 0 BUF 0. Shots: NYI 13 BUF 9.
2nd Period
0:29: Ryan Miller makes a nice glove save on Matt Moulson from the slot. Still scoreless.
7:23: Nabokov with a side-to-side save on Nathan Gerbe and then Drew Stafford crashing the net. The goalies are matching each other save for save.
12:16: Still 0-0, but Sabres going to another power play as the Islanders get a bench minor for too many men on the ice.
14:24: Huge rebound save by Nabokov with the glove on Stafford, after making the original save on Ennis. One of his best saves of the year.
15:26: John Tavares takes a tripping minor on Christian Ehrhoff. Buffalo is 0-for-3 on the PP so far.
17:51: NYI 1-0. Streit breaks the deadlock on a feed from Matt Moulson. 4-on-2 rush, and Moulson threaded the pass through a couple defensemen, leaving Streit with an easy angle on goal, as Miller was playing the shot.
18:56: Michael Grabner forces a turnover just inside the Islanders blue line, streaks down the ice and buries a forehand past Miller. 2-0 Isles. Christian Ehrhoff basically threw his stick in an attempt to break up the shot.
19:18: Thomas Vanek goes off for interference. First Islanders PP of the night.
End 2nd: Miller makes one of the best saves of the night on Tavares' one-timer to keep it 2-0 Islanders. Shots: NYI 24 BUF 22.
Third Period
1:20: Moulson one-times one high and out of play as the penalty expires. Still 2-0 Isles.
4:24: Tavares makes it a three-goal game. Wins a battle behind the net against Sekera, wraps around and beats Miller top=shelf with a wrist shot. Moulson and Boyes with the helpers on Tavares' 12th.
15:35: Travis Hamonic to the penalty box for cross-checking.
17:35: Islanders just killed another power play, and the PK is 6-for-6 tonight. Still 3-0 Isles.
19:02: Colin McDonald scores on the power play, and the Islanders lead 4-0. Casey Cizikas' pass from behind the goal ricocheted off a Sabres defenseman across to McDonald at the left wing side, who wasted no time in going top-shelf.
