The Islanders lost the only matchup between the two teams so far this season 6-4 on Feb. 11 at the Coliseum. Matt Moulson (two goals, one assist), John Tavares (one goal, one assist) and Libomir Visnovsky (two assists) had multi-point efforts as the Islanders scored four power play goals in the game.

Hurricanes player to watch
Jordan Staal - Center
Carolina’s acquisition of Staal from Pittsburgh at the 2012 NHL Draft was one of the biggest moves made this past off-season. After spending the first six years of his career as a third-line center, Jordan has been bumped up to the second line with the Hurricanes. The 2006 second overall pick has tallied 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists) in his first 16 games with Carolina.
