The Islanders are 1-1-0 against the heated rival Rangers this season, with both contests coming at Madison Square Garden. In the last meeting on Feb. 14, the Islanders overcame a 2-0 deficit and received goals from Colin McDonald, John Tavares and Brad Boyes, earning a 4-3 shootout win. Evgeni Nabokov made 36 saves, plus two more in the shootout, while Frans Nielsen and Tavares converted their opportunities

Rangers player to watch
Derek Stepan - Center
The 22-year-old center has taken an elevated role in Brad Richards' absence, and is riding a three-game point streak (two goals, two assists). Stepan has been held scoreless in the two previous meetings between these teams, but registered over 21:00 of ice time in each contest. The Hastings, MN native ranks tied for third on the team with 13 points and second with a plus-9 rating.
