Live Updates - Islanders at Penguins
7:00 p.m. - CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh, PAPre-Game
Tomas Vokoun in net for Pittsburgh. Evgeni Nabokov in for the Islanders, starting back-to-back nights. Both teams playing the second game of back-to-backs.
7:10: Pascal Dupuis scores on a one-timer from Chris Kunitz along the goal line to give Pittsburgh a 1-0 edge. Nabokov wasn't expecting the shot from that angle, and it glanced off the inside of his pads and in. Sidney Crosby with the secondary.
11:45: Brad Boyes gets called for tripping on Kennedy in the neutral zone. Pittsburgh will go to their second power play (0-for-1).
12:24: Travis Hamonic skates to the box for interference on James Neal following a little bump. While that is technically interference, it's tough to imagine a world-class player like Neal doesn't know how to stand on skates.
13:00: Lots of attack time and tons of pressure for the Penguins on this 5-on-3. Nabokov with a huge sliding save on Neal, and seconds later Crosby hits the post to Nabokov's left.
13:46: Kunitz scores on a feed in front by Neal to make it 2-0. Crosby is going to get the secondary helper. Lubomir Visnovsky was left with the task of covering two guys down low, and Kunitz redirected it in from the crease. The good news: Boyes' penalty had expired one second before, so we're right back to 5-on-5.
16:17: Andrew MacDonald gets penalized for delay of game. That was a very liberal interpretation of the rule. Definitely more of a deflection. Not intentional in the slightest, and that's the argument Capuano and co. are making.
16:41: Kunitz scores and it's 3-0. One-time tap-in from in front. This team will make you pay on the man advantage. 16th of the year from Neal and Crosby (three assists).
End 1st: PIT 3 NYI 0. Shots: NYI 4 PIT 12. Power plays: NYI 0-for-0 PIT 1-for-4.
8:07: Brad Boyes shows his quick release to make the score 3-1. Simon Despres got tied up with the puck at the blue line and fell to the ice, springing Boyes down the wing. Not sure Vokoun saw that was go by. 6th of the year for Boyes, with an assist from Casey Cizikas, who was on his way off the ice for a change when he passed it ahead, and Matt Moulson.
13:00: Dan Bylsma calls Pittsburgh's timeout following an icing call. Shots in this period are 2-2. Total for the game: NYI 6 PIT 14.
13:34: Crosby drops a pass behind to Kris Letang, whose shot is stopped by Evgeni Nabokov. The rebound was scooped up by a crashing Kunitz, who completes his hat trick to give PIT a 4-1 lead. Second hat trick of the year for Kunitz, and Crosby has four assists.
13:50: Neal has definitely made his presence felt, and now he makes it 5-1 with a goal on a breakaway. Second goal for the Pens in 16 seconds. 17th of the season for Neal. Nabokov remains in the game. Letang with his second assist of the game and 23rd of the season.
End 2nd: PIT 5 NYI 1. Shots: NYI 10 PIT 17
0:00: Kevin Poulin will play the third period. He's played in one game this season (Feb. 24 vs. CAR - loss).
6:39: Crosby sets up Dupuis down low and it's 6-1. Islanders couldn't clear the zone, and the Penguins had a 2-on-0 in front of Poulin. Second of the game for Dupuis. Kunitz gets an assist.
