Islanders Prospect Report
An in-depth look at the prospects in the New York Islanders system
Ryan Strome & Jesse Graham (Niagara IceDogs, OHL)
Strome and Graham helped lead the IceDogs to a 6th place finish in the Ontario Hockey League’s Eastern Conference and a first-round matchup with the Oshawa Generals. It’s been a rough start for Niagara, as Oshawa as holds a 2-0 series lead. With two points in the postseason (both assists), Graham is tied for the team lead. Strome has one playoff goal thus far as he works his way back into the lineup after missing the final three games of the regular season with a foot injury.

Andrey Pedan (Guelph Storm, OHL)
Despite the Moscow native tallying two points (one goal, one assist) in the first two postseason games, the Storm have only managed two goals total and trail the series 2-0 to the Kitchener Rangers. The 2011 3rd-rounder is one of just three Storm holding a positive plus/minus rating in the playoffs.

Mitchell Theoret (Barrie Colts, OHL)
The Colts’ trade deadline pickup has boded well in the postseason thus far as Barrie holds a 2-0 lead against Kingston. Theoret tallied a goal in the Colts’ 7-4 Game 2 win.

Griffin Reinhart (Edmonton Oil Kings, WHL)
The Eastern Conference’s top seed finds itself in a 1-1 deadlock after splitting the first two games against the Kootenay Ice. The 2012 4th overall pick tallied an assist in Edmonton’s 9-0 Game 1 victory.

Brenden Kichton (Spokane Chiefs, WHL)
The Western Hockey League’s leading scorer among defensemen in the regular season has picked up where he left off with two points both assists for Spokane as the Chiefs lead their first round matchup 2-0 against the Tri-City Americans.

Anders Lee & Robbie Russo (Notre Dame, CCHA)
The Fighting Irish duo helped lead Notre Dame to its third CCHA Championship and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament’s Midwest Regional. Lee tallied Notre Dame’s first goal in a 3-1 Conference Championship clinching win over the University of Michigan. The Fighting Irish will face-off against St. Cloud State in the first round of the 16-team NCAA Tournament as Notre Dame looks to win its first ever National Championship.

Scott Mayfield (Denver, WCHA)
Mayfield and the Pioneers were eliminated in the WCHA Tournament’s quarterfinals, but a strong regular season allowed Denver to qualify for its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament. The Northeast Regional’s #3 seed will play the University of New Hampshire in the tournament’s first round.

*All Canadian Hockey League (OHL, WHL, QMJHL) Playoff Series are best-of-seven format. The NCAA Tournament is single-elimination.
