Live Updates - Islanders at Flyers
7:00 p.m. - Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia, PAPre-Game
First trip to Philadelphia for the squad this season. Isles lost to the Flyers at home back in February. Eric Boulton back in the lineup in favor of Marty Reasoner. Radek Martinek and Joe Finley are the other Islanders scratches. Philadelphia has Nicklas Grossmann, Tye McGinn and Harry Zolnierczyk scratched.
Lauren Hart and her super-human lung capacity give us the Anthem, and we're set to drop the puck.
3:47: The game's first penalty is going to Mr. Lubomir Visnovsky for interference during a Flyers chip and chase.
4:14: Scott Hartnell scores on the power play to make it 1-0. Claude Giroux took the zone, pulled up along the left wing boards and found Hartnell in the middle. His shot went underneath Evgeni Nabokov's glove. Wayne Simmonds, who drew the penalty, gets the secondary.
6:21: Colin McDonald and Scott Hartnell fight at center ice behind the play. Both will sit five minutes.
10:47: Bailey-Nielsen-Okposo line puts on good pressure; feels like a power play. Nothing in the net though, despite a couplf of good looks from Mark Streit. Shots: NYI 10 PHI 3.
17:25: Turnover in the neutral zone leads to the Flyers second goal. Mike Knuble forced the turnover near center ice and went across the ice to Giroux, who dished it back on Knuble on a 2-on-1. The veteran forward deked around Nabokov and slid it across the goal line.
20:00: Frans Nielsen backhands a pass back to the line, and Andrew MacDonald's one-timer goes through traffic and in off the inside of Ilya Bryzgalov's pads. Unfortunately, time had expired, so that one doesn't count.
End 1st: PHI 2 NYI 0. Shots: NYI 14 PHI 9.
5:01: Flyers have had the early control, outshooting the Isles 7-2 so far in the frame. Still 2-0 PHI though.
7:30: Nabokov with a pad save on a shot from the top of the zone, and a great stop on Simmonds' rebound, keeping the Isles in this one. Shots: NYI 15 PHI 20 (11-1 Flyers this period).
8:51: Isles showing a heartbeat again. Aucoin with a shot from the right side, but Bryzgalov holds on.
9:43: Kurtis Foster going to the box for cross-checking. Second PP of the game for the Isles.
11:43: No goals on that power play, but the Isles are back into the flow of the game. Still 2-0 home team.
15:35: Great kick save by Nabokov on Maxime Talbot on a 2-on-1 chance. Shots: NYI 21 PHI 21.
19:00: John Tavares scores and that should help momentum going into the intermission. He made a blind pass toward Matt Moulson, but it glanced off Luke Schenn's skate, then off Erik Gustafsson's skate and in. 21st of the season for JT. Kyle Okposo and Moulson with the helpers. PHI 2-1.
End 2nd: PHI 2 NYI 1. Shots: NYI 24 PHI 23. Brayden Schenn will start the third period in the penalty box after tripping Nabokov behind the Isles net. Evgeni had his back turned to the forechecker while he played the puck, and went down to the ice after contact. Nabby stayed down for a second, but skated off under his own power. NOT a popular call in the building.
They've changed the scoring on Tavares' goal. Streit gets the assist, not Okposo. Tavares from Streit and Moulson.
5:01: Nabokov makes a save through traffic on Luke Schenn. Still 2-1 Flyers.
9:33: TV timeout. Still 2-1 PHI. Shots: NYI 28 PHI 27.
10:04: McDonald scores, and this thing is tied at 2-2. Michael Grabner saw Keith Aucoin near the goal line, who made a slick one-touch pass to McDonald in the slot. The winger went blocker-side on Bryzgalov for his fifth of the campaign.
15:37: A little deflection and the Isles take their first lead of the game, 3-2. McDonald again. Initial shot was blocked in front, but he got the puck back and fired it off a defenseman and in. Looked like it went off of Bruno Gervais and changed direction away from Bryzgalov. Matt Martin and Casey Cizikas with the assists.
18:26: Flyers call timeout after an icing. Their net is empty.
18:28: Frans Nielsen goes to the box for a delay of game right off the draw, and the Isles will have to finish 4-on-6.
19:30: They hack away at it, and finally it goes in.
19:59: Luke Schenn to the box for interference. Isles will start overtime on the PP.
End 3rd: The good news is the Isles get a point. The bad news is it could have been two. Tied at 3-3 going to OT. Shots: NYI 33 PHI 34.
4:03: Nabokov with a big save. Each goalie has made three in the extra period. Teams have bent without breaking defensively.
End OT: Late Flyers surge produces nothing. We're headed to the shootout, which has been kind to the Isles this year. Shots: NYI 36 PHI 36.
