Live Updates - Islanders at Penguins

1:00 p.m. - CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh, PA

Pre-Game
Final trip of the season to Pittsburgh. Isles are 1-3-0 against the Pens this year. Jarome Iginla making his Penguins debut after 1219 games with Calgary. Tomas Vokoun gets the start in goal for Pittsburgh.

1st Period
1:28: Sidney Crosby just got in the way of a Brook Orpik shot, and it looks like he took it in the mouth off a deflection. They're cleaning the blood off the ice and taking the Pens captain to the dressing room.

1:28: Strange to see Iginla and Brenden Morrow in Penguins colors, especially with neither player wearing a letter on their chest. Iginla and Morrow were both long-time captains, in Calgary and Dallas respectively. Both players, along with Douglas Murray (acquired from San Jose) all have expiring contracts at the end of the season.

4:00: Matt Moulson and Brad Boyes just had back-to-back chances on Vokoun, but neither got through.

8:15: Shots are 8-0 Islanders. Another strong start for the Isles.

19:19: Not a ton of great scoring chances lately, but we'll get the game's first penalty. Deryk Engelland for hooking.

End 1st: NYI 0 PIT 0. Shots: NYI 11 PIT 5. Only the second scoreless period out of the Islanders last 24.

2nd Period
1:20: The Engelland penalty is over, and the game is still scoreless, despite a couple of great chances by Josh Bailey.

2:31: Andrew MacDonald gets called for tripping on Evgeni Malkin.

3:12: Mark Streit gets pulled down, and the referees are going to give Chris Kunitz a minor penalty. 4-on-4 for 1:19 after Pittsburgh had generated a couple of good chances early on the PP.

3:30: Update: Crosby will not return from the puck he took to the mouth earlier.

6:48: No idea how James Neal missed on a one-timer from the left side. Nabokov might have gotten a piece, but the puck went side.

12:43: Visnovsky is going to the box for hooking, but it may have saved a goal. Matt Cooke took a feed from Tanner Glass, and had an open lane to the goal, but Viz slowed him down. Second power play of the day for the Penguins.

16:23: Josh Bailey takes a hard hit behind the Islanders goal. Kunitz was the culprit, and lots of players get involved in a scrum. Isles trainer is out to tend to Bailey, and Kunitz is headed down the tunnel, which usually indicates a midconduct of some sort.

16:23: On replay, Kunitz pushed Baley from behind into the boards. Bailey's face looked to his flush into the wall. Kunitz is gone from the game, so he and Crosby's services will not be available for the rest of the day. Five-minute power play for the Islanders coming up. Bailey got off the ice by himself, so if early returns are any indication, he's going to be ok.

19:23: Orpik called for tripping Okposo, and now it's a 2-man advantage.

End 2nd: Still lots of time remaining on the 5-on-3, but this game is scoreless after 40. Shots: NYI 23 PIT 18.

3rd Period
2:01: Vokoun with a save on Visnovsky to stop play. Both penalties expired, and that appeared to be a big boost for Pittsburgh, but the Isles kept the puck hemmed in for another 30 seconds or so. Still scoreless.

7:33: Grabner picks off a pass in the defensive zone and gets a breakaway, but Vokoun stops the wrist shot.

8:10: Matt Cooke scores for Pittsburgh. Puck was originally shot from the point and hit Nabokov. Cooke got a lucky bounce and the puck seemed to cling to him. He spun around and found the back of the net for the game's first goal.

12:18: Grabner takes a shot off the lower leg and limps off.

13:04: James Neal doubles the Pittsburgh lead. Malkin with a feed up the boards to Neal in the neutral zone. Neal's quick wrist shot from the right circle during an odd-man rush went in off Nabokov. Douglas Murray gets the second helper.

17:24: With an empty net at the other end, Vokoun makes a few stops during a flurry. Visnovsky and Moulson each had a chance. Still 2-0 PIT.
