Live Updates - Islanders vs. Flyers
7:00 p.m. - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NYNote: Page will automatically refresh every 60 seconds.
Evgeni Nabokov will start for the Islanders. Steve Mason looks to get the first win for the Flyers this season by a goalie not named Ilya Bryzgalov. Matt Carkner is in on D, replacing Radek Martinek. Matt Moulson is back in the lineup after missing Saturday's game with flu-like symptoms, and Anders Lee is scratched as a result.
5:06: Kent Huskins takes a slap shot off the lower leg and skates awkwardly back to the bench. He's not being given much attention, so it's probably nothing serious. Philadelphia has had some bad luck in terms of injuries to their blue line this season.
6:28: Philadelphia scores an early goal on Jakub Voracek's 17th of the season. It's under review though. Andrew MacDonald was backchecking hard, went to the ice, and took the goalpost off its moorings as he crashed into Evgeni Nabokov. Also, the Isles netminder might have had control of the puck before it crossed the line on the collision.
6:28: Goal. The explanation was muddy, but it wasn't an insanely long review, so it seems like they were pretty confident about that one. 1-0 Flyers. Claude Giroux and Kimmo Timonen get the helpers.
10:33: A little back-and-forth between John Tavares and Matt Moulson results in a Tavares wrist shot from the left circle. Mason is equal to the task, and keeps the Flyers lead in tact.
11:49: Michael Grabner heads to the penalty box for elbowing. That's just his fifth minor penalty of the season. First power play for either team upcoming.
13:49: Grabner is out. Nothing too threatening on that man advantage. Shots: NYI 5 PHI 2.
15:36: Moulson does what Moulson does, and ties this thing up at 1-1. Little 2-on-2 by him and Brad Boyes, who somehow maneuvered in front of the Flyers defenseman before setting up Moulson in the slot. Moulson got just a hair outside of his man and put it through Mason.
End 1st: NYI 1 PHI 1. Shots: NYI 8 PHI 5.
3:24: Nabokov makes a save on a one-time floater from Voracek. That opportunity looked dangerous, but fizzled.
6:01: Matt Martin and Brayden Schenn engage in fisticuffs at center ice. Martin delivered a few good shots in there. That's not Schenn's game, but you have to give him credit for trying. Coliseum crowd gets a bolt of energy...and we go to TV timeout.
10:16: Icing called on the Islanders. Still 1-1. Shots: NYI 14 PHI 16.
14:32: A couple of banged up Flyers. Oliver Lauridsen got hit against the boards and struggled getting up. Luke Schenn blocked a Colin McDonald shot from close range moments later, causing some of his gear to go all Charlie Brown. Referee wanted to call a hi-stick on the play, but was talked out of it by a linesman with a clearer view.
15:31: Kyle Okposo with a breakaway, dekes to his backhand...save Mason. Shots: NYI 17 PHI 19.
17:42: Michael Grabner rips one home from the slot. 2-1 Isles. Took a feed in transition from McDonald along the right wing boards and picked his spot. Peter Laviolette not too happy with the boys in white on that play.
End 2nd: Isles have turned this around after falling behind 1-0 early. Okposo just stickhandled through four defenders and generated a good scoring chance. NYI 2 PHI 1. Shots: NYI 21 PHI 19.
4:30: Icing called after a long attack in the Philly zone. Crowd is impressed again as the faceoff goes back toward the south end of the rink.
5:06: Flyers are finally getting their first minor of the game. Timonen for holding.
7:06: That one is over. Lots of zone time but nothing of the Grade-A variety. Still 2-1. Shots: NYI 22 PHI 21.
13:15: Isles just survived a chance in front by Bruno Gervais. Puck went through the slot and Gervais couldn't connect. Still 2-1 home team.
18:23: Islanders get that insurance marker off a 2-on-1 by Moulson and John Tavares. Moulson set up Tavares with a shot, but Mason stopped it. The rebound laid in front until Erik Gustafsson went diving back to stop Moulson and inadvertently swept it in. 3-1 Isles.
