Season series (1-0-1)
The Islanders won the first matchup against the Maple Leafs, but lost the second contest in overtime at Nassau Coliseum. On Feb. 28, Josh Bailey, Lubomir Visnovsky and Andrew MacDonald recorded their first goals of the season, and Kyle Okposo posted three points (one goal, two assists) as the Islanders overcame a two-goal third period deficit to force overtime. But Dion Phaneuf scored 1:11 into overtime to give the Leafs the 5-4 win.

Dion Phaneuf - Defense

Toronto captain and No. 1 defenseman Dion Phaneuf ranks fifth among NHL blueliners with eight goals, and sixth with 26 points. The Edmonton, AB native scored the game-winning goal in overtime the last time the two teams met, and has posted double-digit goal totals in six of his seven seasons in the league. Phaneuf also has a physical edge, as evidenced by his 785 career penalty minutes in 595 games played.

Quote of the Day

I think we’re excited to get in there. It’s always fun to play in Toronto, and there’s quite a few guys from the area. It’s always a good place to go back to. It’s going to be a tough game. They’ve got a really good team. We’re going to have to bring a lot of the same energy as we have the last few games.
