Live Updates - Islanders at Sabres

7:00 p.m. - First Niagara Center - Buffalo, NY

Note: Page will automatically refresh every 60 seconds.

Pre-Game:
Thomas Hickey is back in the lineup, and Lubomir Visnovsky will watch from upstairs tonight. Evgeni Nabokov, who is one off the league lead with 23 wins, is back between the pipes. Ryan Miller is starting at the other end, and it's his 500th career game.

1st Period
2:50: Brian Flynn hits the post from in tight while Nabokov had the pads stacked. Nabokov may have gotten a piece of that.

7:14: Kevin Porter gets a feed during a 2-on-1 with Tyler Ennis. Nabokov slides across and makes the stop.

8:41: Mike Weber headed to the box, and the Islanders will have the game's first power play. Interference is the call.

13:02: Brian Strait gets whistled for interference, and itll be the first PP for the Sabres.

15:25: Porter translated a fortunate bounce into a breakaway, but Nabokov was equal to the forehand chance.

15:50: Brad Boyes with a deflection down low, but Miller squares up to it.

19:58: Porter with a solid shot from the blue line that challenges Nabokov, but he blocks it away.

End 1st: NYI 0 BUF 0. Shots: NYI 9 BUF 10. The officials are assessing matching misconduct penalties to Eric Boulton and John Scott for some pushing and shoving after the horn.

2nd Period
3:29: Flynn takes a shot from the right side and beat Nabokov low. Thomas Vanek forced a turnover inside the Isles zone and made the pass across to Flynn. 1-0 Sabres.

4:42: Ennis hi-sticks Thomas Hickey in the Isles zone. There's some blood, but they're only going to give Ennis 2 for roughing. At the end of that, there was an exchange, resulting in a roughing minor to Drew Stafford. Brian Strait was already serving a delay penalty for delay of game, so the Isles will have a 1:07 4-on-3, and a 5-on-3 for 53 seconds.

12:03: Matt Carkner and Scott drop the gloves behind the play in the neutral zone. A couple of heavyweights. The players were locked up for most of that bout. Carkner also gets 2 for elbowing.

19:01: Kyle Okposo sets up Michael Grabner for a breakaway but Miller stops the forehand attempt.

End 2nd: BUF 1 NYI 0. Shots: NYI 18 BUF 15.

3rd Period
1:56: Vanek with a breakaway but Nabokov has the answer, kicking it aside.

2:28: Jochen Hecht beats Nabokov but not the cross-bar. Still 1-0.

7:26: Keith Aucoin capitalizes on a break and ties the game at 1-1. A long pass from Andrew MacDonald was tipped into the zone to the end boards. Miller came out to play the puck, but didn't realize Aucoin was charging in. Miller backed off, but Aucoin got the puck in the left circle and had just enough of an angle to put the puck in the net around the Sabres goalie.

19:37: Cody Hodgson with a great chance in the slot from Vanek but he pushes it wide.

End 3rd: Tavares fanned on a shot just before the horn. Big point automatically moves the Islanders from 8th to 6th in the Conference. That forces Ottawa and the Rangers to at least get some points in their remaining games. Third game of the last four that have gone past 60 for the Isles. NYI 1 BUF 1. Shots: NYI 26 BUF 21.

Overtime
1:25: Aucoin draws a hook on Porter in the Isles' zone. So the visitors will go to the man advantage. They're 0-for-3 tonight.

3:46: Islanders had a bunch of chances there. Tavares with the best one after he undressed the defenders and had a clean look. Bailey with a couple of shots from the point, but it's still 1-1.

End Overtime: NYI 1 BUF 1. Shots: NYI 31 BUF 22. Islanders definitely dominated overtime, outshooting the Sabres 5-1.
