Eastern Conference QF Game 5 Preview: Islanders at Penguins

Game 1 Summary:
The Islanders fell behind early, and allowed five unanswered goals, dropping Game 1 at CONSOL Energy Center. Pascal Dupuis scored twice for Pittsburgh, and four Penguins posted multi-point games. The Penguins went 2-for-4 on the man advantage, while the Islanders were held to an 0-for-4 night on the power play. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 11-of-15 shots, and Kevin Poulin came on in relief to turn aside 10-of-11.

PIT 5, NYI 0: RECAP, BOX SCORE, HIGHLIGHTS

Game 2 Summary:
Pittsburgh led 2-0 and 3-1 in the first period, but the Islanders, powered by goals from Colin McDonald, Matt Martin and Kyle Okposo, surged back to win Game 2 by a 4-3 count. Matt Moulson (one goal, one assist) and Mark Streit (two assists) posted multi-point outings, while Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 30-of-33 shots, including the last 24 he faced. Okposo earned his first career fighting major for a second period bout with Matt Niskanan, and 14 seconds later, McDonald's goal began the comeback.

NYI 4, PIT 3: RECAP, BOX SCORE, HIGHLIGHTS

Game 3 Summary:
The Islanders led by two early, and trailed by two later in the game, before goals from Kyle Okposo (shorthanded) and John Tavares tied the score, forcing overtime. Chris Kunitz scored the game-winner in the extra frame for Pittsburgh, giving the Penguins a 2-1 series lead. The Islanders penalty kill went 2-for-5 in the loss.

PIT 5, NYI 4 (OT): RECAP, BOX SCORE, HIGHLIGHTS

Game 4 Summary:
The Islanders lost two early leads, and overcame two deficits later on, getting in front for good on John Tavares' goal midway through the third period. Casey Cizikas capped off a three-point night with a late tally, as the Islanders won 6-4 to even up the series at two games apiece. Mark Streit (who also added an assist) become the first Islanders defenseman in 30 years to light the lamp twice in a postseason game.
