Zachary Fucale backstopped the powerhouse Mooseheads as they steamrolled their way through the QMJHL season. Halifax only lost seven games in regulation between their 85 regular season and postseason games. Fucale’s statistics drastically improved this season from his 2011-12 rookie season. As a result, Central Scouting Services ranks him as the top North American Goaltender.

Zachary Fucale is a butterfly goalie with great leg and foot speed. He plays very poised and confident. Fucale moves very well and has good positioning to make saves look easy. He controls rebounds well and is a very smooth goalie.

Philippe Desrosiers had no problem jumping into his first full season in the QMJHL. Rimouski’s second pick in the 2011 QMJHL draft helped lead the Oceanic to fourth-place in the 18-team league, their best finish since Sidney Crosby played for the team in 2004-05. For his efforts, the QMJHL awarded Desrosiers the Raymond-Lacacé Trophy for defensive rookie of the year.

"That year, the Draft was just two hours from my house, a short drive from Montreal to Ottawa. All my family was there. When they called my name and I had to walk down and meet everyone at the table - that was the biggest memory I have. When you’re a little kid and you play hockey, you just want to play in the NHL. Getting drafted and putting on the jersey, it was like I was just one step closer to my dream.”

Each day of the week leading up to the draft, newyorkislanders.com will break down prospects from different leagues.
