Islanders 2013 Draft Central - Eric Comrie and Tristan Jarry
In the days leading up to the 2013 Draft, newyorkislanders.com will break down the top prospects in North America and Europe
The younger brother of former Islander Mike Comrie, Eric Comrie finished his second season in goal with the Tri-City Americans. Born in Edmonton, Eric honed his hockey skills in the sunshine of California. Eric became the Americans’ starting netminder this past season, but a hip injury forced him to miss the second half of the campaign. With rehab, Comrie is expected to be 100% ready for the start of next season.

Mike Dunham, Islanders Goaltending Coach
Eric Comrie is a very athletic goalie with quick reflexes. He does not give up on pucks, which helps him battle to make the great save. Comrie consistently challenges shooters with his positioning.

Playing for the dominant Edmonton Oil Kings, Tristan Jarry took the WHL by storm in his second season. Jarry led all goaltenders that played in at least a third of his team’s games in GAA and SV%. Led by 2012 Islanders first round pick Griffin Reinhart, the Oil Kings finished first in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.

Tristan Jarry is a big goalie who relies on his size and plays big. He does a good job of staying square to shooters. He’s good at catching pucks. Jarry didn’t play a lot but performed well in the games he was given.
