Islanders 2013 Draft Central - Anthony Mantha and William Carrier
In the days leading up to the 2013 Draft, newyorkislanders.com will break down the top prospects in North America and Europe
Anthony Mantha led the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 50 goals this season. In nine playoff games, he led Val-d’Or in scoring with 12 points (five goals, seven assists). The big-body was a force all season long for the Foreurs, tallying five hat tricks, including one four-goal performance. Currently ranked 10th among North American skaters, Mantha’s stock has shot up since being selected in the fifth round, 76th overall in the 2010 QMJHL Draft.

Anthony Mantha is a big-time goal scorer and point producer from the QMJHL. He really has the ability at that level to do as he wishes. He's big, courageous and willing to stick his nose anywhere to make a play or score a goal.
Altough an ankle injury limited him to just 34 games this year, William Carrier still put up very strong numbers for a half season. Well before suffering the injury, the La Salle, Quebec native began the season on fire, tallying at least one point in each of his first 10 games. Playing in a full campaign the year before, Carrier finished second on the team with 70 points in 66 games.

William Carrier is a hard-nosed kid who brings his lunch pail to the rink every day. Not blessed with any intangible that's considered exceptional, but most assets are very good.

Drafted: 2009, NY Islanders (1st round, 12th overall)

“It’s definitely a nervous time waiting to hear your name get called. But once you do, it’s the biggest relief and the best feeling of your life.”
