Islanders to meet Ottawa Senators at Barrie Molson Centre on September 29

Barrie, ON (June 11, 2013) - The Barrie Colts are pleased to announce that the New York Islanders will play a pre-season NHL exhibition game in Barrie, Ontario. The game will take place at the Barrie Molson Centre against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

“The New York Islanders are excited about the opportunity to host a game in Barrie, one of Canada’s true hockey communities,” New York Islanders General Manager Garth Snow said. “The Ontario Hockey League develops young prospects while giving them a chance to play in front of passionate fans like the ones in Barrie, supporting the Colts. We have several players who came through the OHL and are now key members of our core group, such as John Tavares, Josh Bailey, Matt Martin and Casey Cizikas. I look forward to seeing a sold out Barrie Molson Centre for our game against the Ottawa Senators.”

“The Barrie Molson Centre is recognized as one of the top facilities in the Ontario Hockey League and we’re looking forward to being able to play a game there,” said Senators general manager Bryan Murray. “As an Ontario-based team, we’re excited to bring our team to a different part of the province and meet some of our fans in what is a vibrant hockey community”.

The Colts will host the exhibition game at their home arena, the Barrie Molson Centre in Barrie, ON with the main goal of providing the local community with greater access to national level hockey. “We decided to bring this game to Barrie to give all of our fans the chance to see an NHL game in our own rink. We’re very excited to be a part of such a terrific event and I’m sure the entire community will come out in full force to see some of the brightest stars in the NHL,” said Howie Campbell, President of the Colts.

Barrie Colts season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets and have already been notified as to how to go about purchasing them. Tickets for the general public will go on sale, Monday, July 1, 2013.

Ticket prices are from $89.00 to $120.00 (plus taxes and service charges if bought online) and will available at www.barriecolts.com or at www.ticketbreak.com and will be available at the Colts office at the BMC, starting July 1, 2013.
