Islanders 2013 Draft Central - JT Compher and Michael McCarron
In the days leading up to the 2013 Draft, newyorkislanders.com will break down the top prospects in North America and Europe
Headed to the University of Michigan in the fall, JT Compher finished his final season with the U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP) as the squad’s third leading scorer in USHL play. Including games played by the USNDTP against non-USHL opponents, Compher’s point totals ballooned to 49 points (18 goals, 31 assists) in 55 games. He also led the Silver Medal-winning Team USA at the Under-18 World Junior Championship with seven points (three goals, four assists) in seven games.

Trent Klatt, Islanders Player Development
JT Compher is an all-purpose player who has skills and hockey sense to make him very appealing to teams. He knows how to score, and knows how  to make plays. If a coach wants or needs something done, this kid can do it.
Michael McCarron has decided to further his hockey career by staying close to home to attend Western Michigan University in the fall. With the USNTDP, McCarron sure showed off his size and strength, evidenced by his 84 PIM in 19 games. The 6’5, 228-lb winger also helped Team USA earn silver at the U-18 World Junior Championship with five points (three goals, two assists) and 14 PIM in seven games.

Michael McCarron is a huge prospect who is able to move. He's a power forward that does a lot of his work in the dirty areas. McCarron is an abrasive, nasty, hard-nosed player who is accustomed to going up and down the wing.
Aaron Ness, Islanders defenseman

Drafted: 2008, NY Islanders (2nd round, 40th overall)

"It’s obviously a nerve-wracking time just waiting to hear your name. Then I finally heard it and went down to the stage. I think the first hand I shook was Charles Wang’s. Lots and lots of pictures and interviews after the pick happened, but it’s all part of the experience."

Each day of the week leading up to the draft, newyorkislanders.com will break down prospects from different leagues.
