Game Day Updates 9\/21\/13
The New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils will play the first ever NHL game in Brooklyn tonight at Barclays Center. The Islanders will hit the ice at 10:00 a.m. for morning skate.

10:00: Islanders still have a full group at camp, but practices are split into two groups. The game group is out on the ice now. After practice, they'll take a bus to Brooklyn for the main event.

10:31: Just talked with Jack Capuano. Some things to watch for tonight: Evgeni Nabokov is scheduled to play the whole game between the pipes. Frans Nielsen and Lubomir Visnovsky will man the point on one power play, while Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Matt Donovan will do the same on the second unit.

10:48: Capuano, on what he liked most about Thursday's game: "I liked the way our young guys competed. From a system standpoint, we still made some blunders at times, but I thought our young kids really worked hard. We did a lot of good things with and without the puck. We played a 200-foot game."

10:51: Capuano, on Bouchard's play: "He's a skilled guy. He's got great vision, great hockey sense. In Regina he did really well on our power play. He's still learning the system, but he's done a pretty good job and has asked a lot of questions. Now that we're deeper into this preseason, we're expecting a good game out of that line (Moulson-Tavares-Bouchard) tonight."

10:54: John Tavares, on showing a better effort tonight than Tuesday in Regina: "We didn't play very well. It was the first game for a lot of us. We have lots of room to grow, but that's what the preseason is about."

10:57: Tavares, on things to focus on tonight: "It's about good habits. Doing the right things offensively and defensively. Putting ourselves in good positions and making it tough for the other team. We want to play physical, and we want to keep that physical presence in our game."

11:00: Travis Hamonic, on the excitement around the first game at Barclays Center: "We're really looking forward to it. It's a chance to play in a beautiful building. As far as tonight, there's a game to be played, but we're going to have a lot of fans from the Island coming in. The neat thing about it is we're not too far away and we're not alienating our fan base. We should have a good showing from our fans tonight."

Tonight's game will be streamed live on (New York area only). Fans who wish to listen to the radio call can find the broadcast on WRHU 88.7 FM. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
