Martin Brodeur - Goaltender
Brodeur's streak of 18 consecutive opening night starts may have come to an end, but the all-time leader in games played (1,220), wins (669) and shutouts (121) should be between the pipes during the Devils home opener. The Islanders got the better of Brodeur the last time they saw him, scoring four times on 13 shots on Sept. 19.
•The Islanders and Devils join the newly-formed Metropolitan Division, along with Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Carolina, Columbus, Washington and the NY Rangers.
•Dating back to last season, the Islanders have points in 12 of their last 13 regular season games (8-1-4).
•John Tavares will play his first game as captain, after being awarded the "C" on Sept. 9.
