2012-13 season series (3-2-0)
The Islanders and Devils met five times last season, with the Islanders earning two points in three of those contests. The last time out, Josh Bailey scored in the opening minute as New York skated to a 3-1 decision at Prudential Center. Travis Hamonic and John Tavares each tallied, while Frans Nielsen registered two assists. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 24-of-25 as the Islanders finished a sweep of the away portion of the season series.

Apr. 1, 2013: NYI 3, NJD 1 - RECAP, BOX SCORE, HIGHLIGHTS
Devils player to watch
Martin Brodeur - Goaltender

Brodeur's streak of 18 consecutive opening night starts may have come to an end, but the all-time leader in games played (1,220), wins (669) and shutouts (121) should be between the pipes during the Devils home opener. The Islanders got the better of Brodeur the last time they saw him, scoring four times on 13 shots on Sept. 19.

Islanders Storylines

•Dating back to last season, the Islanders have points in 12 of their last 13 regular season games (8-1-4).

Quote of the Day

"We've been practicing so much against ourselves and have been doing different things. [The players] spent a lot of time obviously working all summer long and preparing. You can feel it in practice. They're ready to go tomorrow."

-Head Coach Jack Capuano,
on gearing up for the season opener
