The Islanders and Blackhawks last met during the 2011-12 season. On Dec. 8, 2011, playing their second matchup in seven days, the Islanders stormed back from a two-goal deficit to force overtime, but Chicago won 3-2 on Patrick Sharp's game-winner at Nassau Coliseum. Travis Hamonic and Michael Grabner scored the goals for the Islanders.

Patrick Kane - Right Wing

The Buffalo, NY native selected No. 1 overall in the 2008 NHL Draft has lived up to his billing, scoring 20-plus goals in each of his six NHL seasons (including the lockout-shortened 2013 campaign). Kane notched the Stanley Cup-winning goal in overtime for Chicago in 2010, and the series-clinching goal in double-overtime in the 2013 Western Conference Finals (capping off a hat trick).
Kane has one goal in all three of Chicago's games so far this season.
Islanders Storylines
• At 2-0-1, the Islanders are off to their best start through three games since the 2001-02 season (3-0-0).
• Michael Grabner registered his first career three assist game Oct. 8 vs. Phoenix.
• The line of Grabner, Frans Nielsen and Josh Bailey has combined for 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) through three games.
The Islanders are 45-41-22 all-time against Chicago. They will meet once more this season, on Jan. 2, 2014.
