The last meeting between the Islanders and Predators was back on Jan. 16, 2012 at Nassau Coliseum. The Predators got off to a hot start with three goals in the first 12 minutes en route to a 3-1 victory. John Tavares scored the Islanders only goal, with Matt Moulson and Kyle Okposo picking up assists. The Islanders haven't played in Nashville since December 2010.

Jan. 16, 2012: NSH 3, NYI 1- RECAP, BOX SCORE, HIGHLIGHTS
Predators player to watch
Filip Forsberg - Center

Fliip Forsberg was the top-ranked European prospect heading into the 2012 NHL Draft after tearing up the Swedish leagues as a teenager, and the 19-year-old made the Predators 23-man roster out of training camp in September. Forsberg, whose playing style has been compared to that of Corey Perry, netted his first career goal on opening night, Oct. 8 vs. Minnesota. It will be interesting to see if the Ostervala, Sweden native, who Newyorkislanders.com talked to last summer, already has the tools to make a big impact at the NHL level.

Islanders Storylines
• Josh Bailey has goals in two consecutive games, and four multi-point efforts in his last 14 games.
• Michael Grabner registered his fifth helper of the season on Oct. 11 at Chicago, matching his assist output from the 2012-13 season.
• Cal Clutterbuck made his Islanders debut Oct. 11 at Chicago, registering 8:35 of ice time.
• Evgeni Nabokov is 14-8-3 with two shutouts and a 2.26 GAA in his career against Nashville.

Quote of the Day:

"I expect a hard-working team. They’re very structured. We watched them play Toronto the other night, and not taking anything away from Toronto, but that could have gone the other way for sure. Bernier had a great game. They come hard, so we’re going to have to make sure that we play high-percentage hockey in all three zones."

-Islanders head coach Jack Capuano,
