Pregame
Colin McDonald and Matt Donovan go back in the lineup tonight for the Islanders. Eric Boulton, Matt Carkner and Brock Nelson are scratched.

1st Period
4:15: Taylor Hall just had space on a breakaway up the middle, but lost the puck off his stick, allowing Evgeni Nabokov to kick the puck away without a problem. Shots: NYI 3 EDM 2.

9:59: Josh Bailey's one-timer from just outside the crease puts the Islanders up 1-0. Travis Hamonic skated down below the goal line and dished to Bailey, who was untouched and converted his third goal of the season. Pierre-Marc Bouchard got the second assist on the play.

10:37: Ales Hemsky gets called for hooking on Matt Martin, and the Isles will quickly go on the first power play of the game.

12:55: Power play comes to an end. The first 1:20 wasn't especially exciting, but the Islanders finished with momentum, keeping the puck in the Oilers zone for a while following the resumption of 5-on-5 play. Shots: NYI 10 EDM 3.

15:52: Nice movement by the Oilers results in a tie game. Hall took a pass from Justin Schultz  across the slot on the left side and beat Nabokov, who couldn't get back in position. Tie game, 1-1.

16:00: Hall scores again off the ensuing faceoff, eight seconds later. Shot from the right wing by Mark Arcobello kicked out for a rebound in front, and Hall buried the second chance. Oilers lead 2-1.

End 1st: EDM 2 NYI 1. Shots: NYI 16 EDM 7.

2nd Period
3:51: Some fancy footwork by Pierre-Marc Bouchard results in a tripping penalty to Luke Gazdic. Isles back to the power play.

4:54: Islanders convert on the man advantage. John Tavares found Matt Moulson down around the goal line, who made a one-touch pass to Kyle Okposo in the slot as he was attacking the net. Okposo's one-timer beat Devan Dubnyk to tie the game at 2-2.

7:08: Okposo goes off for tripping in the Edmonton zone, and the visitors will go to their second man advantage of the night.

9:10: Nabokov makes two big saves (one on Nail Yakupov, one on Justin Schultz) to keep the Oilers off the board.

10:27: Huge save by Nabokov on a one-timer by Arcobello, to keep the contest tied. "Nabby" chant ensues.

16:30: Islanders have killed three penalties in a row over the last six or seven minutes. Shots: NYI 24 EDM 19.

18:53: Tavares makes it 3-2 with his fourth of the year. Okposo found him from below the goal line and the captain stepped into the shot, aiming top shelf.

19:56: Okposo draws a tripping minor on Nick Schultz, and the Isles will have 1:57 of power play time when the third period starts.

End 2nd: NYI 3 EDM 2. Shots: NYI 25 EDM 21.

3rd Period
5:12: Jeff Petry takes a delay of game penalty for shooting the puck over the glass, and the Islanders will go back on the job.

7:30: Isles unable to convert on the man advantage. Edmonton uses its timeout after taking an icing call. Islanders had the puck in the Oilers zone for a while beforehand.

9:15: Isles outshooting Edmonton 10-0 in the period, 35-21 for the game.

18:14: Penalty to Justin Schultz for hooking, and the Isles will have a power play for the rest of regulation or until they score.
