Thomas Vanek is playing his 600th NHL game tonight. Evgeni Nabokov is in goal for the Islanders, while Robin Lehner gets the start for Ottawa. Colin McDonald (hip), Brian Strait (upper body) and Lubomir Visnovsky remain out of the lineup due to injuries. Eric Boulton is also scratched for the Islanders.
1:11 - The Sens came out hard and managed the game's first four shots in just over a minute of play, but Nabokov handled them all.
9:23 - Thomas Vanek was whistled for high sticking. Seconds into the penalty kill, Michael Grabner raced down the ice on a breakaway but could not beat Robin Lehner.
14:21 - Senators D-Man Eric Gryba was whistled for boarding Kyle Okposo. Isles didn't convert on their first power play of the game.
18:38 - Senators take a 1-0 lead with 1:22 remaining in the period. Erik Condra nets his first of the season from the top of the right circle.
19:40 - Mika Zibanejad makes it 2-0 Senators with 19.6 to play in the first. Slap shot from the point fluttered his Nabokov and fluttered over the goal line.
1:03 - John Tavares was whistled for hooking. Ottawa's power play mantained pressure in the offensive zone, but failed to generate any good opportunities on goal.
3:41 - Milan Michalek sends the puck over the glass for a delay of game penalty, but the Islanders still can't beat Lehner despite several good scoring chances.
8:32 - Lehner made a big glove save on Andrew MacDonald from close range.
9:07 - Thomas Vanek spins a feed across the crease to John Tavares to bring the Islanders to within a goal. Okposo earned the secondary assist on Tavares' fifth of the season.
9:35 - Matt Martin ties the game at two, tipping home a slap shot from Matt Carkner. Brock Nelson also gets credit for an assist.
12:34 - Senators reclaim the lead, as Bobby Ryan jams home a loose puck in the crease at 12:34.
18:24 - Pierre-Marc Bouchard puts home a rebound from Matt Donovan during 4-on-4 action to cut the Senators lead to 4-3
0:00 - After a pair of Sens penalties late in the second, the Islanders opened the third with 57 seconds remaining on a 5-on-3 power play but could not find the equalizer.
3:14 - Frans Nielsen's eighth goal of the season ties the game. After a strong cycle down low, Hickey sent a pass through the slot for Nielsen to wrist home. Bouchard earned the secondary assist on the play.
15:00 - Matt Donovan broke up a 3-on-1 rush with a sprawling poke check to keep the score tied.
3:40 - Thomas Vanek had the best chance to end the game in OT with a breakaway from the red line, but couldn't fire one through Lehner. Shots were 4-4 in overtime.
Nielsen nets the shootouts only goal in the second round.
