2012-13 season series (0-2-1)

After sweeping Carolina two seasons ago, the Canes returned the favor last season, taking all three meetings with the Islanders. The Isles only managed one of a possible six points, taking the lone point in a 4-3 shootout loss on Apr. 23. However, that was the game the Isles clinched their playoff berth.

LAST GAME:
Apr. 23, 2013: NYI 3, CAR 4 SO - RECAP, BOX SCORE, HIGHLIGHTS
Hurricanes player to watch
Eric Staal - Forward

The Hurricanes captain has three goals and nine assists through 15 games this season. Staal busted out of a four-game pointless streak with an assist on Tuesday, but the star center was riding a five-game point streak before his slump, so he’s always a threat when he’s on the ice.

Islanders Storylines
• Okposo: Kyle Okposo scored a goal and an assist Tuesday night to add to his team-leading 19 points. Okposo has seven points (one goal, six assists) in his last three games.
• Hurtin’ Canes: The Hurricanes are currently plagued by injuries, with goalies Cam Ward and Anton Khudobin, young star Jeff Skinner and defenseman Joni Pitkanen all on the injured reserve.
• At Least Two: The Isles have scored at least twice in every game this season.  Chicago and St. Louis are the only other teams to have done so.
