The Predators took the first game of the season series 3-2 on Oct. 12. The Islanders had a 2-1 lead late in the second period, but Patric Hornqvist scored in the last minute of the period to tie the score allowing Ryan Ellis to score the eventual winner at 3:23 of the third period. Pekka Rinne stopped 14 of 16 Islanders shots, while Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 28 of 31.

Predators player to watch
Seth Jones - Defenseman

Seth Jones is fitting in nicely with the Predators in his rookie season. The top American picked in the 2013 Entry Draft (fourth overall) has seven points (2g,5a) in 17 games this season and is playing big minutes for the Predators, averaging 24:40 per game. Jones picked up his first career goal Oct. 12 against the Islanders.

• Point-Per-Game: John Tavares (7g/13a), Kyle Okposo (5g/14a) and Frans Nielsen (9g/10a) are all above the point-per-game clip through 18 games this season.
Back Home: The Islanders begin a three-game home stand on Tuesday night. They won their last contest at the Coliseum, beating the Boston Bruins 3-1 on Nov. 2.
