American Hockey League: Bridgeport Sound Tigers (4-9-1-3), 5th in Northeast Division, 15th in Eastern Conference)

Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3, Providence Bruins 4 (SO)

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers fell 4-3 in a shootout to the Providence Bruins Friday (Nov. 22) in Providence. Goaltender Kenny Reiter stopped 42 of 45 shots he faced prior to the shootout. Providence opened the scoring with two second period goals, but the Sound Tigers fought back in the third, scoring twice in the opening 38 seconds courtesy of Mike Halmo and Kirill Kabanov. Anders Lee gave the Sound Tigers their first lead of the game with less than 10 minutes to go, but the Bruins tied the game and took the victory 2-0 in the five-round shootout.

Bridgeport Sound Tigers 1, Worcester Sharks 2 (SO)

On Saturday, the Sound Tigers lost their second shootout in as many days, falling 2-1 to the Worcester Sharks. Like Friday, goaltender Kenny Reiter had a strong night making 37 saves on 38 shots in regulation. Bridgeport opened up the scoring late in the first period on Dallas Jackson’s second of the season. Bridgeport maintained the lead until the 4:47 mark of the third when Worcester tied the contest. In the skills competition, Worcester outscored Bridgeport 2-0 to earn the win.

Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3, St. John’s Ice Caps 4

The St. John’s Ice Caps spoiled goaltender Parker Milner’s AHL debut on Sunday, as the Sound Tigers lost 4-3. Despite the Sound Tigers holding a 2-0 lead in the middle of the second period, the Ice Caps fought back with three unanswered goals. Calvin de Haan’s first goal of the season tied the score midway through the final frame, but the Ice Caps tallied the game-winning goal on the power play with less than five minutes to play.

ECHL: Stockton Thunder (11-4-0-1), 2nd in Pacific Division, 2nd in Western Conference

Stockton Thunder 3, Utah Grizzlies 2

This past Friday the Stockton Thunder defeated the Utah Grizzlies 3-2 for their second consecutive win. Down 2-1 heading into the third period, Stockton struck twice in the final frame to take the victory.

Stockton Thunder 3, Idaho Steelheads 1

The Stockton Thunder continued their winning streak on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over the Idaho Steelheads. Defenseman Ryan Constant opened the scoring in the first period, added another goal in the third and finished the game with three points (two goals, one assist). Goaltender Brian Foster stopped 25 of 26 shots he faced including all 13 in the third period.

Stockton Thunder 4, Idaho Steelheads 3

The Stockton Thunder won their fourth straight game on Sunday with an overtime win over the Idaho Steelheads. Down 3-2 in the third period, Stockton tied the score with less than eight minutes remaining to force overtime. In the extra session Andrew Clark scored his team leading sixth goal of the season to earn the 4-3 win.

AMATEUR PROSPECTS:


Victor Crus Rydberg - Plymouth Whalers (OHL)

Victor Crus Rydberg, the Islanders fith round pick in 2012, helped propel the Plymouth Whalers to a come-from-behind victory over the Saginaw Spirit this past Friday. Trailing 3-1 with less than seven minutes remaining Crus Rydberg tallied an assist on the goal that cut the deficit to one. Just over a minute later, Plymouth tallied again to force overtime. In the extra session, Crus Rydberg notched his first career overtime goal giving the Whalers the 4-3 win. With 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 23 games, Crus Rydberg is tied for the team in scoring.

Jesse Graham Traded to Saginaw Spirit

After four seasons with the Niagara Ice Dogs Jesse Graham has been traded to the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for 2nd round picks in 2014 and 2015, a 3rd round pick in 2017 and a conditional 2nd round pick in 2018. The Ice Dogs receive the conditional pick if Graham plays a game in the 2014-15 season. Earlier this season, Graham was named the fifth captain in team history, following in the footsteps of fellow Islanders prospect, Ryan Strome.
