American Hockey League: Bridgeport Sound Tigers (6-10-1-3), 5th in Northeast Division, 15th in Eastern Conference)

Defenseman Matt Donovan returned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last weekend and scored three points (1g/2a) in his first three games. On Friday, Nov. 29, the Sound Tigers defeated their rivals, the Hartford Wolf Pack, 3-2. AHL rookie of the month Ryan Strome led the way with two goals while Anders Lee tallied one goal.  Donovan notched two assists in the contest including his 100th career AHL point… The Sound Tigers wound up on the wrong side of a high-scoring game, falling 8-6 defeat against the Albany Devils Saturday. Nick Larson scored twice for the Sound Tigers while Mike Keenan, Alan Quine, Chris Bruton, and Donovan each had a goal in the contest… The Sound Tigers wrapped up the weekend on a high, beating the Manchester Monarchs 3-2 Sunday. The Sound Tigers were behind 2-1 early in the third, but Strome and Nick Larson each scored in a third period rally for the win.

ECHL: Stockton Thunder (11-6-0-2), 2nd in Pacific Division, 3rd in Western Conference

Stockton’s four-game winning streak ended with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Ontario Reign on Wednesday, Nov. 27.  Stockton was unable to start a new winning streak, over the weekend, falling 4-1 to the Ontario on Friday and 6-3 to the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday. The loss against Bakersfield snapped a six-game winning streak against Stockton’s in-state rival.

AMATEUR PROSPECTS:


Adam Pelech - Erie Otters (OHL)

Adam Pelech and the Erie Otters defeated the Mississauga Steelheads 7-1 on Saturday, scoring five goals in the second period. Pelech tallied his seventh goal of the season, which stood as the eventual game-winner. The Islanders’ 3rd round, 65th overall selection in 2012 now has 20 points this season (7g/13a). Erie sits atop the Ontario Hockey League standings with 47 points in 28 games.

Ryan Pulock - Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL)

Brandon Wheat Kings captain Ryan Pulock helped lead his team in an 8-4 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors Friday. The 2013 15th overall selection tallied one goal and one assist in the victory. Pulock’s 26 points (10g/16a) in 24 games lead all Brandon defensemen.

Mikko Koskinen - Novosibirsk Siber (KHL)

Goaltender Mikko Koskinen was named Team East’s starting netminder for the 2014 KHL All-Star Game to be held in Bratislava, Slovakia on Jan. 11. The Finnish goalie’s stellar play has helped Novosibirsk Siber allow the second fewest goals against in the 14-team Eastern Conference.
