Morning Skate Updates - Islanders vs. Penguins 12\/3\/13
Updates from the Isles morning skate at Nassau Coliseum
The Islanders wrap up a four-game homestand against one of their biggest rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins. These teams always play each other tough and the games are filled with plenty of passion and drama. The two previous games this season were decided in the final two minutes of play, so fans should expect another close game.

Here are some news, notes and quotes from today’s optional morning skate at Nassau Coliseum.

Lineup Notes/Changes:
Head coach Jack Capuano is going with the same lineup from Saturday night. Capuano liked what he saw despite the OT loss, as the Islanders led in shots (39-30), hits (30-22) and won 58% of faceoffs.

Brock Nelson, Eric Boulton and Radek Martinek are out. Josh Bailey, Peter Regin and Calvin de Haan are in.

Anders Nilsson makes his second straight start in goal. The Swedish netminder stopped 27-of-30 shots in his first start of 2013-14.

On Anders:
"He gave us a chance. Any time you have a guy in there that battles and gives you a chance to win the game, that's what you want as a staff. I thought he did that...Anders played well." - head coach Jack Capuano.

"He's so big... He covers a lot of the net and moves well." - Travis Hamonic.

From the Coach - Capuano on Doug Weight's induction to the US Hockey Hall of Fame :
"There are a lot of great coaches in this league, and no disrespect to their playing career, but they didn't have stellar NHL careers as players. Doug, to me, had a great career as a player, but is also a great coach. He's a great communicator with our guys... It's a well-deserved honor."
