Game Preview: Islanders vs. Canadiens

The Islanders lost the series opener to the Montreal Canadiens, 4-2, at the Bell Centre on Nov. 10. Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Brock Nelson scored power-play goals for the Islanders, but the Habs equaled the PP production. Michael Bournival’s second period goal held up as the game-winner, while Alex Galchenyuk had his first three-point game (1g/2a). Galchekyuk's linemates, Lars Eller and Brendan Gallagher, each picked up a goal and an assist.

Canadiens player to watch
Alex Galchenyuk - Forward

Alex Galchenyuk is having an impact in his second season with the Canadiens. The third-overall pick in the 2012 draft is third in team scoring with 21 points (9g/12a) through 33 games. Galchenyuk had a big game the last time he faced the Islanders, notching a career-high three points (1g/2a). The Milwaukee, WI, native has points in four of his last six, including two game-winning goals.  
 
Islanders Storylines
Strome Debut: Ryan Strome will make his Islanders debut Saturday night. The fifth-overall pick in 2011 led the AHL in scoring (9-24-33) at the time of his call up. Top Line: John Tavares (2g/3a), Thomas Vanek (2g/2a) and Kyle Okposo (2g/1a) have combined for 12 points in the Islanders last three games.
•Strait/Nabokov: The Islanders are getting some reinforcements, as Brian Strait and Evgeni Nabokov were activated from injured reserve Thursday. Strait picked up two assists Thursday night against Phoenix.
Streaky Habs: The Canadiens have lost two straight games after winning their previous five. Overall, they are 7-2-1 in their last 10.
